About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineering Technician at CAD RI supports the engineering and production teams by assisting with equipment setup, process optimization, troubleshooting, and documentation. This role helps ensure that manufacturing operations run efficiently, safely, and in alignment with quality standards. The technician plays a hands-on role in implementing engineering improvements, maintaining production processes, and supporting new product introductions.

Requirements

  • Technical diploma or associate degree in Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Technology, Industrial Technology, Electrical Technology, or a related field.
  • 1–5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with equipment troubleshooting or assembly is an advantage.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment operation, and basic engineering principles.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
  • Strong proficiency with measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
  • Competency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree is an asset but not required.
  • Familiarity with CAD software and/or basic PLC or automation concepts is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-the-floor technical support to operators and supervisors.
  • Assist production personnel on new processes, equipment, and work instructions.
  • Assist with line balancing, workflow improvements, and ergonomic assessments.
  • Prepare and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and maintenance procedures.
  • Document engineering changes, test results, and process parameters.
  • Compile production data and generate basic reports to support engineering decisions.
  • Assist Manufacturing Engineers with the setup, calibration, and maintenance of production equipment.
  • Make recommendations on tooling and equipment to be used.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and process issues to minimize downtime.
  • Perform tests and collect data to evaluate equipment performance and reliability.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on cycle time reduction, waste elimination, and quality enhancement.
  • Support Lean, 5S, Kaizen, and root cause analysis activities.
  • Implement minor process adjustments and participate in validation and testing.
  • Assist in setting up fixtures, tooling, and equipment for new products.
  • Help validate and test new processes or manufacturing methods.
  • Provide feedback on manufacturability and assembly challenges.
