About The Position

An Automotive Service Technician professionally diagnoses, repairs, and maintains vehicles, ensuring their proper functioning. They work with a variety of car systems, such as engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical systems, and more, using specialized tools and technology to identify problems. These technicians typically perform routine maintenance such as oil changes and tire rotations, as well as more complex repairs. They must stay up-to-date on the latest automotive technology and repair methods to effectively address new challenges in vehicle performance and safety. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail are essential for success in this field.

Requirements

  • Solid knowledge of various makes and models.
  • A completed or current provincially recognized automotive mechanic certificate.
  • A CPA card - (Comité paritaire de l'industrie des services automobiles).
  • Completion of a related post-secondary program and/or training courses.
  • Professional attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to operate electronic diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High level of integrity and work ethic.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Red Seal certification would be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Performing vehicle repair and/or maintenance work as specified on the RO efficiently and accurately, completing all tasks in accordance with dealer and OEM standards.
  • Communicating regularly with parts and service advisors to effectively manage production/repairs, cycle times, and customer communication.
  • Performing multi-point inspections to make appropriate repair recommendations while ensuring the safety and reliability of any repaired vehicle before it is returned to the customer.
  • Documenting all work performed on the vehicle RO by creating a history on the associated repair order, in a manner consistent with OEM standards, ensuring payment for warranty work is provided by the manufacturer.
  • Maintain an inventory of common automotive technician tools that are not normally inventoried by the service department as "stock-issued" equipment.
  • Stay current with factory technical bulletins and attend factory-sponsored training courses as required.
  • Deliver an exceptional repair experience to build customer loyalty and increase department revenue.
