About The Position

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research & Development Laboratory Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will support the development, testing, and evaluation of solder materials, including solder pastes, fluxes, and alloys. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on laboratory work, problem-solving, and working in a collaborative R&D environment.

Requirements

  • College diploma (DEC), Laboratory Technician Diploma, or equivalent technical diploma in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, Laboratory Technology, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • Previous laboratory experience is an asset (R&D or manufacturing environment preferred).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to accurately follow written procedures and document results.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with solder materials, fluxes, or electronic assembly materials.
  • Familiarity with IPC standards and laboratory testing methods.
  • Experience with thermal analysis (DSC/TGA) or viscosity testing is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) or ISO quality systems.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and test solder pastes, fluxes, alloys, and other electronic assembly materials.
  • Perform laboratory testing following standard operating procedures and industry standards.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment such as DSC, TGA, viscometers, rheometers, balances, and microscopes.
  • Prepare samples and accurately document test results.
  • Analyze data and assist in preparing technical reports.
  • Support product development, product validation, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, inventory, and a clean, safe work environment.
  • Follow laboratory safety procedures and quality system requirements.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Quality, and Manufacturing teams.
