About The Position

The Technician – Welder/Pipefitter role is part of the maintenance team and is responsible for identifying and repairing structural and pressure system components with specified quality, adhering to safety and work procedures. This position is located at the Carseland, AB manufacturing site. The role is crucial for maintaining plant equipment reliability, ensuring personal and process safety, enabling quality product outcomes, improving plant reliability and uptime, and reducing costs.

Requirements

  • Formal Welder/Pipefitter Trade Certification
  • Relevant Qualifications (Diploma or Degree) & Experience
  • Knowledge of ABSA, API or ASME standards and QI/QC programs

Responsibilities

  • Execute the job in the field according to the weekly schedule.
  • Assure before the start of the job, all safety measures have been addressed according to Company´s procedures and that all OH&S and Orica policies are followed.
  • Ensure that the equipment used for all jobs to be performed are in a safe and functional conditions and request new ones to replace the ones not suitable.
  • Capture and report the required data from the job as instructed in order to compile information for continuous improvement and introduce all that data in SAP.
  • Optimize the Tool time providing true information of the wastes associated to the job and propose actions to improve the Tools time.
  • Leave the working area clean and tidy.
  • Promote the identification and repair of damaged equipment through SAP.
  • Provide mentorship to the apprentices in the reliability cultures.
  • Lead other Technicians or Contractors if requested.
  • Participate as requested in RCFA, HAZOPs or other studies.
  • Participate in Shutdowns and Turnarounds.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance Reliability and Integrity Engineers to Ensure Preventive Maintenance procedures are in place for new and existing equipment.
  • Maintain a fluid communication with the Reliability and Integrity Engineers sharing the information obtained from the field activities to improve the Reliability of the facilities.
  • Support the process of Operations readiness for new facilities when they are commissioned.
  • Be a member of the Fire crew and Emergency Respond Team.
