About The Position

Provides a combination of direct patient care and unit clerical duties for the department. Administers care to designated patients under the direction of a Clinical Nurse and supports the patient care team. Ensures a clean and orderly environment for patients. Provides information, directions, and other assistance to physicians, patients, families, customers, and vendors. The role may include scheduling patient tests and procedures, maintaining patient records, and signing patients in and out of the unit. It may also involve ordering, receiving, and delivering equipment and supplies for the patient care team. Continuous observation, including suicide prevention, may be required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Previous comparable acute patient care experience or successful completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
• Current Basic Life Support certification through the AHA, or attainment of certification upon completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of procedures and standards related to patient care activities.
• Knowledge of principles of infection control.
• Basic computer skills.
