About The Position

New Porgera Limited (NPL) is seeking a qualified and experienced individual to join their Mine Technical Services Department as a Technician – Underground Ventilations. This role reports to the Senior Drill and Blast Engineer and is responsible for supporting the planning, monitoring, and optimization of the underground mine ventilation system to ensure a safe, compliant, and productive working environment. Key duties include conducting ventilation surveys, collecting and analyzing data, maintaining monitoring equipment, and assisting with ventilation planning and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

Underground mining induction and relevant site competencies.
Experience working in an underground mining environment.
Knowledge of underground ventilation principles.
Ability to use ventilation monitoring equipment.
Strong attention to detail and accurate record keeping.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and experience using ventilation software (e.g., Ventsim).

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering, or a related discipline.

Responsibilities

Conduct routine underground ventilation surveys, including airflow, pressure, gas, temperature, humidity, and dust measurements.
Inspect ventilation controls such as stoppings, regulators, doors, seals, and ventilation fans.
Verify that ventilation circuits operate according to approved ventilation.
Collect, record, and maintain accurate ventilation monitoring data.
Prepare routine ventilation reports and trend analyses.
Assist in updating ventilation models and mine ventilation plans.
Support investigations into ventilation-related incidents or abnormalities.
Assist ventilation engineers with short- and long-term ventilation planning.
Support the implementation of ventilation changes associated with mining development.
Maintain a high level of health and safety awareness and comply with the NPL Occupational Health & Safety Policy and all health and safety rules and procedures.
