About The Position

This position is responsible for cleaning, decontaminating, inspecting, assembling, and sterilizing instruments for Surgical Services and other departments. The technician will also clean, assemble, inspect, and distribute patient care equipment. Other duties to facilitate departmental operations will be performed. The role requires superior technical skills and knowledge of all Sterile Processing functions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Successful completion of a Sterile Processing Technician Training Program, including 400 hours of hands-on experience in an SPD setting, is required.
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) required within two years of hire.
  • Competency in cleaning and disinfecting surgical instruments.
  • Competency in assembling and packaging instrument trays.
  • Competency in operating sterilization equipment (autoclaves, HLD systems).
  • Competency in adhering to regulatory standards, including AAMI, CDC, OSHA, DNV, and AORN.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • CIS – Certified Instrument Specialist preferred.
  • CER – Certified Endoscope Reprocessor preferred.
