About The Position

This position assists with surgical procedures in the Delivery Room for which the technician has been prepared within the scope of law. The technician functions as an integral part of the nursing team, working with an RN to care for patients, and is self-directive in providing sub-acute care or performing routine activities.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Meet at least one of the requirements under the New Jersey Surgical Technology Certification Law effective December 21, 2011: completion of a nationally or regionally accredited surgical technologist educational program; a maintained certified surgical technologist credential from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or another nationally recognized credentialing organization; completion of an appropriate U.S. military or Public Health Service surgical technology training program; evidence of employment practicing surgical technology in a healthcare facility on December 21, 2011; or federal government service involving surgical technology duties related to that service.
• Complete 15 hours of continuing education annually to remain qualified to practice as a surgical technologist in New Jersey.
• CST certification.
• BLS required.
• Ability to exercise initiative within scope of practice.

Nice To Haves

• A minimum of 1 year of Scrub Technician experience preferred.
