Technician- On Bench Operations (SSO)
About The Position
Orica is seeking an experienced Shotfirer and MMU Operator to join their large Coal Operations teams in the North Bowen Basin. This role involves assisting and providing direction, supervision, and guidance to the Blast Crew in loading, tying, and firing large shots. Additionally, the operator will use the MMU to pump explosive product into pre-drilled blast holes on customer sites. The position is Drive-in Drive-out (DIDO) with a 7 days on/7 days off roster, and camp facilities are provided. Orica offers industry-leading training programs for career advancement into roles such as Supervisors, Territory Managers, Blasting Technicians, and Operational Leaders, as well as opportunities in their technical services team.
Requirements
- Experience operating as a full shotfirer
- Authorised iKon Shotfirer required, or prior experience working with iKon systems
- Knowledge of explosives storage regulations and blasting procedures
- A QLD Shotfirers Licence
- Hold a current QLD Explosives Security Clearance
- An impeccable safety record and commitment toward safety
- An unquestionable attitude toward working safely as a priority
- Experience operating an MMU, or similar blast delivery vehicle
- A current QLD Explosives Security Clearance
- A positive team-orientated work ethic
- A positive attitude to customer service
Nice To Haves
- Current HR licence (desirable but not essential)
Responsibilities
- Providing operational blasting knowledge, direction and advice to Orica’s blast crews and associated stakeholders
- Shotfiring duties including magazine management, managing the loading, tying and firing of blasts, following drill and blast designs
- Working in tight unison with teammates to provide excellence in service to customers
- Assisting with the training and mentoring of new team members
- At all times acting with integrity and respect
- Operating MMU vehicle (Mobile Manufacturing Units) and other associated blasting plant and machinery
- Assisting with preventative maintenance
- Assisting with the 'hands-on' delivery of explosive products down pre-drilled blast holes on bench
- Daily administration and customer interactions
