About The Position

Supervises the department of the laboratory and performs all duties of a CLS. The CLS assists in the operation of the hospital clinical laboratory by overseeing and performing routine and STAT tests in the lab. CLS assumes responsibility for the accuracy of results and the appropriate documentation of patient, quality control, and maintenance data. The CLS consults with nursing and medical staff as needed. The CLS Monitors section functions and assists in the development and revision of policies and procedures. Able to provide coverage, as needed, on all shifts; supervises the shift all operations of the laboratory including planning, staffing, organizing and delineating all duties and responsibilities of all testing and support personnel for his/her shift, performance evaluations/ competency assessment, performance management, problem solving, equipment maintenance, Quality Control and review, orientation/inservice, and various other projects that is assigned.

Requirements

  • A valid and current Clinical Laboratory Technologist license issued by the State of California Department of Health Services
  • BCLS card (AHA) within 90 days of hire
  • Able to converse well in English to carry out physician, nurse, and patient contacts
  • Good manual dexterity
  • Ability to work well under supervision and in times of stress

Nice To Haves

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or the equivalent
  • 2 years of supervisory experience
  • 6 years’ experience as a CLS
