About The Position

Performs, as directed, all necessary maintenance of the facility, equipment and grounds, in a timely and cost-efficient manner. This role involves performing on-site service and repair of equipment, reading electrical & mechanical drawings and technical manuals, and adhering to safety procedures. The technician will also be responsible for managing waste generated from work performed and completing specific training programs. During pilot line setup and commissioning, the role will operate first shift hours, transitioning to a 12-hour crew schedule during ramp-up. Positions may require second shift for training and onboarding.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Verifiable technical skills and/or background.
  • 6 months First Solar manufacturing experience, or 6 months of outside manufacturing, mechanical, or agricultural experience.
  • Must pass community college entrance exam and complete manufacturing maintenance training program.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing equipment.
  • Knowledge of computer applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Proven communications skills.
  • Proven Electro/Mechanical skills.
  • Working knowledge of at least 2 of the following: electrical, mechanical, vacuum systems, chemical delivery, and robotics.
  • Ability to follow safe work practices.
  • Capable of following LOTO.
  • Ability to work with little supervision.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting skill.
  • Will sit, stand, or walk short distances for up to 12 hours per day.
  • Will climb stairs or steps on a frequent basis.
  • Will lift up to 58 pounds on an occasional basis, according to work instruction.
  • Will lift up to 37 pounds on a frequent basis.
  • Will push or pull up to 50 pounds of force on an occasional basis.
  • Will push or pull up to 37 pounds of force on a frequent basis.
  • Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis.
  • 20/40 vision in each eye separately and both eyes (with or without correction), the ability to distinguish between red, yellow, and green and peripheral vision >70 degrees is required.
  • May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
  • May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.
  • Must comply with all safety standards and procedures.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including, but not limited to: steel-toed shoes, cut-resistant gloves, jackets, aprons &/or arm guards, safety glasses or goggles, hearing protection & respirators) as a condition of employment and continued employment (requires little or no facial hair).

Nice To Haves

  • 2 year associates degree in a technical field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs, as directed, all necessary maintenance of the facility, equipment and grounds, in a timely and cost-efficient manner.
  • Accomplishes daily assignments as scheduled and as directed.
  • Performs the on-site service and repair of equipment.
  • Ability to read electrical & mechanical drawings and technical manuals.
  • Must meet at least 70% of Estimated Repair Times.
  • Interfaces with other departments.
  • Follows standard OSHA, EPA and company safe practices on all work assignments.
  • Responsible for adherence to all safety procedures, good housekeeping standards, and the wearing of PPE.
  • Notify EHS Department if there are questions or concerns with the management of hazardous waste.
  • Responsible for managing waste generated from any work that is performed.
  • Responsible to manage waste generated from any work that is performed as instructed.
  • Will complete First Solar Maintenance 1 training program.
  • During Pilot Line Setup and commissioning, operate 1st shift hours; transition to 12-hour crew schedule A or C during ramp, Positions may require 2nd shift in various locations on campus for training and on-boarding.
  • Other duties as assigned.
