About The Position

This position is responsible for leading, directing, preparation and monitoring the tests of prototype transmissions and components per customer requirements within the test lab. These tests include but are not limited to: transmission/clutch/engine dynamometer durability testing, components testing, mechatronic testing, vehicle test runs, transmission/clutch teardown and evaluation, and inspection equipment evaluation for all product lines. This individual will also be using spreadsheet, word, and data table capabilities of the latest computer software. This individual serves as key contact for team members in daily work assignments.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree
  • 6-8+ years of progressive experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
  • Experience with reading blueprints
  • Experience in machining components with high tolerance
  • In-depth knowledge of engineering assembly and component drawings
  • Proven ability to design and build prototype assembly and test fixtures from marked drawings and sketches
  • Ability to use and train individuals to use standard shop measurement tools

Responsibilities

  • Direct Test Technicians’ work assignments and test support activities to support internal and external customers.
  • Lead various testing activities for all automatic transmission validation processes on-site and at the customer site to support development testing.
  • Act as a trainer and mentor for test technicians.
  • Schedule the usage of tools, equipment, etc.
  • Responsible for the specification, purchasing, maintenance and service of equipment and tools.
  • Maintain department measurement equipment and ensure timely and proper calibration of all devices.
  • Maintains all vehicles in the vehicle fleet including scheduling, routine maintenance, and service
  • Maintain an organized and hazard-free work area in compliance with all ZF policies and governmental guidelines to ensure a safe and productive work environment.
  • Assemble and disassemble all ZF automatic transmission and clutch assemblies and subassemblies as well test equipment retrofitting mechanically and electrically.
  • Visually inspects and tests electrical system or equipment, using testing devices such as oscilloscope, voltmeter, and ammeter etc. to determine malfunctions
