About The Position

Microchip Technology Inc. is seeking a Technician IV-Equipment (Gas and Abatement) for their Fab 4 facility in Gresham, Oregon. This role supports the Gas and Abatement systems on a compressed work week shift (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and every other Wednesday from 6:00 AM to 6:15 PM). Training will initially be on a modified shift, primarily the back day shift, before transitioning to the front day shift. The position requires excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Requirements

  • AA degree in a technical field, or equivalent military training or technical degree.
  • 5+ years of experience in Gas & Abatement.
  • Electronic and mechanical aptitude. Passion for electronic and mechanical tinkering.
  • Ability to apply theoretical/textbook concepts in practical, real-world applications.
  • Creative thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Competent in MS Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong organization, documentation, and writing skills.
  • Self-directed, self-motivated, and able to work in a highly team-oriented environment with minimal supervision.
  • Participation as an active member of the Fab 4 ERT (Emergency Response Team).
  • Ability to meet the requirements of the ERT physical.
  • Must pass a physical, fit test and medical clearance for the usage of a tight-fitting respirator (SCBA full face mask level).
  • Must maintain physical requirements for wearing SCBA full face mask level.
  • Must be able and willing to travel for training purposes.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain semiconductor sub fab systems including Specialty and Bulk Gas System Equipment and Distribution Manifolds, Abatement Equipment, and Vacuum Dry Pumps.
  • Perform material handling responsibilities including operating forklifts, performing cylinder gas changeouts, segregating/disposing of hazardous wastes, and handling vacuum dry pumps.
  • Participate in equipment installation and startup duties including equipment layout, qualification, and commissioning.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills by troubleshooting system issues across different teams at Microchip.
  • Work with systems containing electrical, mechanical, liquid and gas hazards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
