About The Position

The Factory Operations Technician supports manufacturing readiness by building, modifying, installing, and maintaining factory infrastructure, operational equipment, and material systems across multiple manufacturing areas. This hands-on role partners with Manufacturing, Engineering, Facilities, Supply Chain, and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) to improve workflow, organization, safety, and operational efficiency. The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a key role in enabling efficient manufacturing by ensuring our factory infrastructure, operational systems, and production environments are ready to support current and future business needs.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent plus 2 years or more related experience.
  • Demonstrated experience building, fabricating, assembling, or modifying workstations, carts, shelving, fixtures, or other industrial infrastructure using common shop tools.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude with the ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, measuring equipment, and material handling equipment.
  • Ability to read drawings, layouts, assembly instructions, and technical documentation while accurately measuring and constructing solutions.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and customer service skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Basic computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard business software.
  • Ability to lift materials, work on ladders, stand for extended periods, and safely perform physical tasks throughout a manufacturing environment.
  • A DoW Interim Secret clearance will be required to start work and required to be maintained to continue work.
  • The applicant must be willing and eligible for submission, depending on program requirements, after an offer is accepted and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance/access.
  • Possessing and maintaining a valid US driver's license and a satisfactory motor vehicle record review.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Creform or similar modular framing systems.
  • Experience supporting aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 6S, visual management, and continuous improvement principles.
  • Experience supporting facility improvements, production equipment moves, workspace optimization, and manufacturing infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with vendor-managed inventory (VMI) and material replenishment systems.
  • Current forklift certification.
  • Active Secret Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Design, fabricate, modify, and install manufacturing workstations, carts, shelving, storage systems, fixtures, visual management tools, and other factory infrastructure using modular framing systems, common shop tools, and standard fabrication equipment.
  • Apply mechanical aptitude, creativity, and practical problem-solving to develop custom solutions that improve safety, ergonomics, material flow, and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Read and interpret drawings, layouts, sketches, and measurements to accurately build, modify, or install manufacturing support equipment and infrastructure.
  • Support equipment installations, factory reconfigurations, workspace improvements, and material handling activities, including moving manufacturing equipment, tooling, furniture, and other operational assets.
  • Maintain operational inventories, fabrication materials, hardware, and vendor-managed inventory (VMI) to ensure manufacturing areas remain fully supported.
  • Perform routine inspections and preventative activities to sustain factory readiness, workplace organization, and compliance with safety and company standards.
  • Champion Lean Manufacturing, 6S, visual management, and continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to improve factory organization, efficiency, and employee experience.
  • Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, hand tools, power tools, and other shop equipment while following all safety procedures and PPE requirements.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, Facilities, Supply Chain, EHS, and Program teams to deliver timely, customer-focused solutions that support production.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
