About The Position

HNTB is seeking a detail-oriented Technician II to support a multidisciplinary team working on the planning, design, and delivery of transportation and municipal infrastructure projects. Under moderate supervision, the role assists with preparing engineering drawings and construction plans using MicroStation and/or AutoCAD, developing exhibits and graphics, processing field and survey data, and supporting project documentation and quantity calculations. The candidate should be eager to learn and able to contribute to multiple projects while collaborating with engineers, technicians, and project managers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology or a related field; or an Associate of Science in Drafting, technical school education, or related education and two years of relevant experience; or four years of relevant experience in lieu of education.
• Intermediate knowledge of terminology and symbols used in survey notes, plans, shop drawings, aerial photographs, and maps related to a specific engineering subtype.

Responsibilities

• Prepare construction details, design plans, reports, and related project materials using computer-aided drafting and design software and other computer software packages.
• Transfer numerical, written, sketched, or electronic information from sources such as legal descriptions, survey data, aerial photographs, and computer files into final plans and maps.
• Develop and implement custom automated drafting and design procedures under supervision.
• Identify errors, problems, or non-standard situations and suggest alternatives.
• Assist in evaluating new drafting and design procedures and software.
• Visualize and illustrate concepts or designs in two or three dimensions.
• Use mathematics, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
