About The Position

The primary function of this position is to perform moderate mechanical repairs and assembly on construction equipment by troubleshooting and using various diagnostic equipment. This role involves using manuals, repair manuals, and parts diagrams for independent troubleshooting and repair. The technician will use various tools and equipment, including lift trucks, overhead cranes, hand and power tools, and diagnostic equipment to disassemble, repair, and reassemble parts and equipment. Responsibilities include performing inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairing engines, power trains, hydraulic, and electrical components. The role also involves using instruments and computers to reprogram equipment controllers and cleaning/painting vehicles.

Requirements

High school education or GED.
Three years' direct work experience.
Working knowledge of CAT literature systems.
Proficient in at least one mechanical system (i.e., hydraulics, transmissions, electrical, etc.).
Ability to daily and repeatedly stoop, kneel, bend, and climb onto and underneath various equipment.
Ability to effectively see to perform repairs, research technical manuals, and develop written repair work order reports.
Ability to routinely and physically lift and position various parts up to 112 pounds, and use mechanical hoist for heavier parts.
Ability to effectively write repair activities on customer work orders.
Cognitive reasoning and problem-solving skills to apply knowledge, written information, and verbal instructions.
Exposure to P.C. base equipment and parts information.

Responsibilities

Perform moderate mechanical repairs and assembly on construction equipment.
Troubleshoot and repair construction equipment using diagnostic equipment.
Use manuals, repair manuals, and parts diagrams for troubleshooting and repair.
Operate lift trucks, overhead cranes, and other aids to move parts.
Use hand and power tools to remove, install, replace, rebuild, repair, and test parts/equipment.
Reference parts information and enter data into record systems using computers.
Disassemble/re-assemble parts or equipment, clean parts, and make diagnostic checks.
Climb onto, under, and into vehicles to gain access to all parts.
Use overhead hoists, lift devices, and forklifts to move items off vehicles.
Perform inspections and preventative maintenance.
Repair engines, power trains, hydraulic, and electrical components.
Use power washers and spray paint equipment to clean and paint vehicles.
Use instruments and computers to reprogram equipment controllers.
Write repair activities on customer work orders.
