About The Position

The Photograph & Media Technician II position supports JCCC mission by providing moderately complex technical support in the Photography, Film, and Media Studies Department studios and equipment check in/out room, exercising judgment in troubleshooting, instruction, and equipment management. This position also provides support for the Fine Arts Gallery in the Fine Arts and Design Studios building.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Fine Arts, Photography, Film/Media, or related field.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, & pull 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Provides independent technical and instructional support to students, faculty, and staff in analog, digital, computer, and shooting studios.
  • Instructs users in the operation of fine art and large-format printers, scanners, light tables, and creative software, including Adobe Creative Cloud and DaVinci Resolve.
  • Assists with and supports the use of professional analog and digital cameras, cinematic RAW and 6K cameras, steady cams, rigs, lighting, and sound equipment.
  • Develops and delivers laboratory and studio demonstrations and instructional materials.
  • Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots analog photography laboratories.
  • Mixes, monitors, and disposes of photographic chemicals in accordance with environmental health and safety standards.
  • Diagnoses and resolves routine and moderately complex technical issues involving printers, cameras, lighting, sound equipment, and software.
  • Performs preventative maintenance to ensure equipment functionality and reliability.
  • Manages equipment checkout and return processes, ensuring proper documentation and verification of equipment condition.
  • Maintains and updates inventory records for equipment and supplies.
  • Receives, inspects, catalogs, stores, and organizes equipment and materials in accordance with departmental procedures.
  • Provides technical and logistical support for Fine Arts Gallery exhibitions, including installation, documentation, and deinstallation.
  • Ensures proper handling, tracking, and return of artworks to faculty, artists, and students.
  • Enforces safety procedures in studios and laboratories.
  • Identifies hazards, implements corrective actions within scope of authority, and reports safety concerns in accordance with institutional policies.
