About The Position

The primary function of this position is to perform moderate mechanical repairs and assembly on construction equipment by troubleshooting and using various diagnostic equipment. This role involves checking equipment and supplies, complying with PPE requirements, and preparing for duties. The technician will use manuals, repair manuals, parts manuals, and parts diagrams to perform independent troubleshooting and repair of construction equipment. They will utilize lift trucks, overhead cranes, and other aids to move parts for repair. The role requires the use of hand and power tools for removing, installing, rebuilding, repairing, and testing parts and equipment. Additionally, the technician will use miscellaneous resources and computers for parts referencing and data entry. This includes disassembling/reassembling parts, cleaning parts, using test equipment for diagnostics, and controlling powered equipment. The job requires climbing onto, under, and into vehicles to access all parts. It also involves using overhead hoists, lift devices, and forklifts to move items like tracks, idler wheels, and blades for disassembly, repair, and reassembly. The technician will perform inspections, preventative maintenance, and repair engines, power trains, hydraulic, and electrical components. They will also use power washers and spray paint equipment for cleaning and painting, and instruments and computers to reprogram equipment controllers.

Requirements

High school education or GED.
Three years direct work experience.
Working knowledge of CAT literature systems.
Proficient in at least one mechanical system (i.e., hydraulics, transmissions, electrical, etc.).
Ability to daily and repeatedly stoop, kneel, bend, and climb onto and underneath various equipment.
Ability to effectively see to perform repairs, research technical manuals, and develop written repair work order reports.
Ability to routinely and physically lift/position various parts and manually handle parts up to 112 pounds.
Ability to use mechanical hoist for heavier parts.
Ability to effectively write repair activities on customer work orders.
Cognitive reasoning and problem-solving skills to apply knowledge, written information, and verbal instructions.
Exposure to P.C. base equipment and parts information.

Responsibilities
