About The Position

This is a temporary summer position that is responsible for assisting with natural resource management of the Neosho Bottoms used to protect and enhance aquatic and terrestrial habitats and ecosystems. The Grand River Dam Authority is Oklahoma’s largest public power electric utility, fully funded by revenues from electric and water sales instead of taxes. GRDA is also a steward of the waters of the Grand and Illinois Rivers in Oklahoma and manages over 70,000 surface acres of premier Oklahoma lake waters, as well as miles and miles of the Scenic Illinois River.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Oklahoma driver’s license, or the ability to convert within 30 days for those with an out of state driver’s license that are an Oklahoma resident.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age

Nice To Haves

  • College coursework in natural resources preferred
  • 1 year of agricultural or natural resource experience preferred
  • Knowledge of tractor and implement operation and skid steer operation
  • Experience pulling bumper pull trailers and 5th wheel style trailers
  • Experience with fence repair/construction and general equipment maintenance.
  • Knowledge of safety rules and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Manage wetlands by operating water control structures and monitoring habitat conditions
  • Conduct water quality testing and wildlife surveys, including waterfowl and deer
  • Assist with prescribed burns, herbicide application, and habitat restoration projects
  • Operate tractors, skid steers, and other heavy equipment safely
  • Remove brush and trees and perform general grounds and equipment maintenance
  • Support educational programs, field days, and public outreach initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with safety guidelines and environmental regulations
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
