About The Position

The Inspector I ensures product compliance with all engineering drawings, specifications, procedures, and customer purchase order requirements. This role performs inspection functions associated with machined parts and assemblies according to written inspection instructions and/or supervision direction. The Orange, CA facility is a leading global supplier of large stretch formed aircraft skins, hot forming of titanium, superplastic forming, and complex fastened and welded assemblies.

Requirements

  • Ability to be self-motivated, and perform work functions with no supervision.
  • Must be dependable and punctual in attendance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form, or provide instructions to piers.
  • Ability to effectively present information to supervision and/or other employees of the organization.
  • Thorough understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Minimum 5 years of aerospace quality assurance or manufacturing experience.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform dimensional and visual inspection of parts and assemblies in accordance with applicable work instructions, engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Be familiar with and accurately utilize basic precision measuring instruments.
  • Be familiar with and use common inspection and quality system processes.
  • Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area.
  • Performs other duties as assigned including leading projects and participation in project committees.
  • Read and understand shop planning, and make suggestions of improvements for product flow.
  • Read and interpret blueprint callouts, and effectively explain interpretation to other departments or inspectors as required.
  • Read and understand internal and customer specifications.
  • Utilize all common precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers, dial indicators, calipers, height gages etc.
  • Perform complex surface plate set-ups and scribe layouts.
  • Add, subtract, divide and multiply in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals, and use of basic shop math.
