About The Position

The primary function of this position is to perform routine mechanical repairs on materials handling equipment. This involves reviewing work schedules, preparing for duties by checking equipment and supplies, and complying with PPE requirements. The technician will use various manuals and diagrams to troubleshoot and repair engines, fuel systems, transmissions, and other components. They will utilize tools such as lift trucks and overhead cranes for moving parts, and hand and power tools for disassembly, repair, and reassembly. Computer systems will be used for referencing parts, gathering information, and data entry. The role also includes performing inspections, preventative maintenance, and completing warranty paperwork.

Requirements

  • High school education or GED.
  • Two years direct work experience or equivalent.
  • Ability to daily and repeatedly stoop, kneel, bend, and climb beside, onto, and underneath various equipment.
  • Ability to effectively see to perform repairs, research technical manuals, and develop written repair work order reports.
  • Ability to routinely and physically lift/position various parts up to 95 pounds and use mechanical hoists for heavier parts.
  • Ability to effectively write repair activities on customer work orders.
  • Cognitive reasoning and problem-solving skills to apply knowledge, written information, and verbal instructions.
  • Exposure to P.C. base equipment and parts information.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine mechanical repairs on materials handling equipment.
  • Troubleshoot engines, engine fuel systems, transmissions, and other components.
  • Use lift trucks, overhead cranes, and other aids to move parts.
  • Use hand and power tools to remove, install, rebuild, repair, and test parts/equipment.
  • Use computers to reference parts, get information, and enter data.
  • Disassemble and reassemble parts or equipment.
  • Replace pumps, batteries, radiators, bearings, seals, wiring, solenoids, fuel lines, and nozzles.
  • Test float valves, glow plugs, and alternators.
  • Perform inspections and preventative maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, and belt/coolant/hose changes.
  • Drain, clean, and refill fuel systems.
  • Complete warranty paperwork.
  • Write repair activities on customer work orders.
