About The Position

The Technician I is an entry-level position in the Public Works Department at The Villages Golf and Country Club. The role provides essential support for the maintenance and operation of community facilities, equipment, and systems, helping ensure maintenance tasks and projects are carried out smoothly. Under the direction of the Director of Operations and Maintenance Services, the Technician I contributes to day-to-day operations and helps maintain a safe, functional, and welcoming environment.

Work is performed indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain. The position involves labor-intensive tasks and exposure to tools, equipment, noise, dust, and maintenance-related materials. The schedule is Monday through Friday, eight hours per day, with weekends when required. The position is full-time and non-exempt, with a salary range of $20.00 to $21.00 per hour.

Employment requires successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check. A valid California driver’s license must be maintained throughout employment if driving on The Villages property.

Requirements

• A valid California driver’s license is required and must be maintained throughout employment if driving on The Villages property.

Nice To Haves

• Six months to one year of experience in maintenance, facilities, or a related field.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Assist with routine maintenance and repair of facilities, equipment, and systems.
• Operate and maintain basic maintenance tools and equipment.
• Support the inspection and evaluation of maintenance issues and report findings to supervisors.
• Maintain clean and organized workspaces and follow safety procedures.
• Assist with executing work orders and assigned project tasks.
• Support senior technicians and management in day-to-day maintenance operations.
• Participate in ongoing training and skill development related to facilities and operations.
• Demonstrate awareness of workplace safety practices and support efforts to maintain a safe environment for staff, residents, and visitors.
• Undertake additional tasks as needed or directed within the responsibilities of the role.
