Operates and maintains packaging machines and related equipment. Palletizes, stores, inventories, and loads product for shipment in a manner to guarantee quality and safe product to the customer. Unloads incoming materials.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • No experience required, however work experience in warehousing/packaging, food grade processing, or agricultural processing is preferred
  • Forklift certification is required but may be obtained after hire
  • Must be self-motivated and show a willingness to learn
  • Computer knowledge (Microsoft Office, EMaint., SAP, Velocity, etc.)
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Ability to professionally interact and communicate with others
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Mechanical aptitude and/or a willingness to learn how to troubleshoot mechanical issues
  • Use of required personal protective equipment when in the manufacturing environment
  • Working around large manufacturing machines and equipment
  • Other general equipment used at an industrial site (i.e. hoist, pallet jack, freight elevator, etc.)
  • Ability to use lab analytical and measurement instrumentation
  • Sitting, standing, walking, repetitive use of hands/arms/legs, and eye/hand coordination for 8+ hours a day
  • Frequent bending, reaching overhead, crouching, climbing ladders, balancing, pushing or pulling
  • Occasional lifting of 75 lbs. or less
  • Frequent lifting of 55 lbs. or less
  • Ability to operate general manufacturing powered equipment and tools
  • Ability to wear respirators according to respiratory protection program

Responsibilities

  • Utilize safe work habits and follow all policies and procedures
  • Make sound decisions while not compromising safety, environmental or quality standards
  • Turn in any hazards as they are identified to get them corrected as soon as possible
  • Attend regularly scheduled training sessions to stay current on all compliance initiatives
  • Assist in the preparation of Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Maintain all ISO Standards in all areas of work within the department
  • Maintain Occupational Health and Safety Management System
  • Monitor and control packaging process within established parameters
  • Perform and control product sampling and deliver to Quality Assurance
  • Perform preventive maintenance, cleaning of process equipment, and housekeeping
  • Learn and operates forklift, "C" zone duties, operate bag line, container bag, and fiber drumline in the "A" zone
  • Learn how to monitor and manage hopper levels
  • Have open communication with fellow workers, supervisor, and outside departments
  • Learn GMP measures and practices
  • Learn and practice First in First out (FIFO)
  • Understand when to adjust VFDs on the feed conveyors
  • Follow instructions as given with an ability to troubleshoot as needed.
  • Fill out trouble report.
  • Provide supervisor detailed information of process and equipment issues
  • Ensure all paperwork is checked and completed
  • Able to multitask in the "A" zone
  • Operate forklift with adherence to all safety procedures
  • Collaborate with other departments within the company to accomplish tasks/goals as needed
  • Suggest/implement process improvement, cost down, or best practice ideas
  • Continually strive for increasing processing efficiencies
  • Complete 5S activities to keep the work area clean and organized
  • Identify process equipment issues/leaks and submit work orders in Emaint
