About The Position

The Technician, Geology I assists the Exploration team in safely meeting goals that include quarterly production, sample throughput, exploration and discovery, and cost control. The role supports diamond drill core measurements and logging, sample preparation and quality control, logging-facility maintenance, and inventory management. The position is based in Winnemucca, Nevada, and follows an 8-on/6-off schedule with 10-hour shifts.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
A valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Excellent safety record and self-motivation.
Ability to thrive in a dynamic and challenging environment.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to meet physical demands, including lifting up to 60 pounds and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Must pass a physical exam, drug screening, and background check.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in a core lab or mining environment.
Basic computer skills, including Outlook and Word.

Responsibilities

Measure diamond drill core, including recovery and rock quality.
Assist with core logging by loading and unloading boxes, washing and organizing core, photographing core, and performing related activities.
Prepare core samples by splitting, cutting, or whole-core bagging.
Maintain sample integrity by diligently applying sampling best practices.
Operate equipment, potentially including a forklift, skid-steer, backhoe, or bulldozer.
Perform general maintenance in and around the logging facility.
Prepare QA/QC samples.
Liaise with the assay lab as necessary.
Maintain an inventory of logging supplies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
