About The Position

The (USA) Technician, Facility Services, HVAC-Refrigeration, is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC and refrigeration systems in commercial and industrial settings. This role involves interpreting technical schematics, diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The Technician supports preventive maintenance programs, leads field teams, and communicates effectively with customers and management. Operating company vehicles and participating in on-call rotations are essential. This position requires adherence to established policies and standards while contributing to continuous improvement and operational excellence within assigned facilities. The team is dedicated to ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable facility operations through preventive maintenance, timely repairs, and thorough inspections. Utilizing expertise in HVAC and refrigeration systems, members collaborate to minimize downtime and maintain operational continuity. They effectively manage resources while upholding quality and safety standards. Focused on continuous improvement and regulatory compliance, the team supports business objectives by delivering dependable facility performance and maintaining an environment that enables smooth daily operations.

Requirements

• Proven experience installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC and refrigeration systems in commercial or industrial settings.
• Ability to interpret layout plans, schematics, and building codes to ensure accurate system configuration and compliance.
• Skilled in diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues and implementing effective solutions.
• Knowledge of OSHA standards and EPA 608 refrigerant handling protocols.
• Competence in preventive maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
• Strong communication skills to explain technical information clearly to customers and team members.
• Capability to lead and mentor technicians while collaborating with management and external partners.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to operate company vehicles safely for service calls.
• Option 1: Vocational or technical HVAC/R certification and 2 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls.
• Option 2: 4 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls or related field.
• Hold and maintains Type I and Type II or Universal Environmental Protection Agency certification for refrigerant handling.
• Where required, HVAC-R/ Mechanical Journeyman.
• Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass motor vehicle report.
• Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years.
• Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years.
• No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
• No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.

Nice To Haves

• Completion of a 2-year Vocational or Technical HVAC/R program
• Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Mechanical license in city and/or state where job is located
• Prior work experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Prior work experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and calibrate HVAC and refrigeration systems, including ductwork, control panels, and building pneumatics.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues in commercial and industrial equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on refrigeration units, walk-ins, and HVAC systems to ensure optimal operation.
• Conduct inspections and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local HVAC/R regulations and safety standards.
• Lead and mentor field teams, providing technical guidance and promoting safety practices.
• Manage service calls, coordinate with vendors, and maintain accurate documentation and inventory records.
• Operate company vehicles safely to complete service assignments within assigned regions.
