About The Position

The Technician, Facility Services, Exterior Services, is responsible for managing and executing exterior maintenance projects to ensure safe, functional, and sustainable facility environments. This role involves coordinating resources, overseeing third-party providers, and maintaining compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The position requires technical expertise in equipment operation, troubleshooting, and quality assurance, alongside effective communication with facility users and leadership. The Technician supports cost control initiatives, plans work assignments, and drives continuous improvements to enhance operational efficiency and uphold Walmart’s standards of integrity and service excellence. The General Facilities Maintenance team ensures Walmart stores operate safely and efficiently through preventive maintenance and timely repairs. This team applies expertise in electrical diagnostics and facility upkeep to address equipment and fixture needs promptly. Members coordinate work orders, manage schedules, and support operational goals while adhering to safety and quality standards. The team fosters a professional environment focused on continuous improvement, effective communication, and delivering reliable facility services that support store operations and enhance the overall customer experience.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in facility maintenance, including exterior services and seasonal upkeep.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations with a commitment to safety and environmental compliance.
  • Ability to operate, inspect, and maintain heavy machinery and powered equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Skilled in managing budgets, cost control, and procurement of parts, materials, and equipment.
  • Demonstrated capability to lead third-party providers and conduct quality assurance inspections.
  • Effective problem-solving skills with experience in troubleshooting and resolving customer facility issues.
  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize work assignments and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Commitment to upholding company policies, ethics, and standards of integrity in all work activities.
  • 2 years' experience in the landscaping/gardening industry.
  • Valid state-issued driver's license

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Maintenance, Construction Management, or related area.
  • Experience in third-party management.
  • Experience using intermediate level functionality of word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • State/local licensing where required (for example, Florida, Texas, California).

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain exterior facility equipment, including snow removal and landscaping machinery, ensuring safety and compliance with regulations.
  • Manage and prioritize work assignments, develop budgets, and approve purchases for parts, materials, and supplies.
  • Conduct quality assurance inspections and troubleshoot facility issues to maintain safe and efficient operations.
  • Coordinate with third-party providers, lead performance evaluations, and ensure completion of scheduled projects.
  • Maintain vehicles, perform basic mechanical upkeep, and ensure proper documentation and safety checks.
  • Implement facility upgrades to improve sustainability and reduce operating costs.
  • Communicate effectively with facility users to resolve concerns and support customer service.
