About The Position

The Exterior Services Technician, DOT Operator - DS, is responsible for managing and executing exterior facility projects, including landscaping and maintenance, while ensuring compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations. This role involves coordinating resources, overseeing third-party providers, and maintaining quality and safety standards. The technician supports cost control through budget preparation and procurement oversight, provides technical guidance, and fosters strong partnerships with stakeholders. Commitment to integrity, continuous improvement, and customer-focused service is essential to successfully maintaining and enhancing Walmart’s exterior service operations. The Facilities Management HVACR team oversees HVAC and refrigeration systems across multiple locations, ensuring efficient operation and compliance with safety standards. They manage maintenance, repairs, and technical training while controlling budgets and coordinating with suppliers and contractors. Focused on integrity, accountability, and continuous improvement, the team delivers reliable solutions that support business objectives and regulatory requirements. Requirements

  • Proven experience in managing projects, including planning, prioritizing, and executing work assignments efficiently.
  • Strong knowledge of budgeting processes, cost estimation, and expense management to control company costs effectively.
  • Familiarity with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations and ability to ensure compliance in all work activities.
  • Ability to lead and evaluate third-party providers, providing coaching and conducting performance assessments.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting, customer service, and resolving facility-related issues with clear communication.
  • Competence in sourcing, verifying, and approving materials and equipment for maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Commitment to upholding company policies, ethical standards, and fostering positive team collaboration.
  • 21 years of age or older.
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license.
  • No convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI, or reckless driving involving alcohol or drugs within the last three (3) years.
  • No more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years, if driving a commercial motor vehicle.
  • No serious traffic violations (as defined by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations) in the last three (3) years, if operating a commercial motor vehicle.
  • No preventable accidents (as defined by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations) in the last three (3) years, if operating a commercial motor vehicle.
  • Successful completion of a DOT physical and medical certification pre-hire.
  • As required by section 391.11(b)(2) of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, ability to read and speak in the English language.
  • 2 years’ experience in the landscaping/gardening industry

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Maintenance, Construction Management, or related area.
  • Certified Facilities Manager (CFM), Project Management (PMP), or related certification.
  • Third-party management experience

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and execute budgets by developing cost estimates for planned projects and approve purchases of parts, materials, and equipment.
  • Manage internal scheduled projects by prioritizing work assignments and developing workforce needs.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations by following established safety and environmental guidelines.
  • Lead third-party providers through coaching and performance evaluations to maintain quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve customer concerns by communicating effectively with facility users.
  • Coordinate material requisitions, verify receipts, and submit required documentation to leadership.
  • Implement facility upgrades and assess landscaping and maintenance needs to optimize operations.
