About The Position

The (USA) Technician, Facility Services, Exterior Services-DOT, is responsible for maintaining safe, clean, and efficient exterior facility operations. This role involves managing seasonal maintenance activities, operating heavy machinery, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The technician supports cost control through effective resource management and coordinates with third-party providers to uphold quality standards. Additionally, the position requires troubleshooting, customer service, and collaboration with management to implement improvements that enhance facility sustainability and operational efficiency while adhering to company policies and ethical standards. The Exterior Services team plays a vital role in maintaining the curb appeal of our facilities, ensuring a welcoming environment for customers, visitors, and associates. This team is responsible for seasonal exterior maintenance, including landscaping, snow and ice management, and equipment operation. They uphold safety and quality standards while supporting facility upkeep and improvements. By coordinating resources and managing projects efficiently, the team contributes significantly to the overall appearance and functionality of our locations, reinforcing Walmart’s commitment to operational excellence and a positive experience for all who visit.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to operate and maintain heavy machinery and powered equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations with a commitment to compliance and safety standards.
  • Experience managing facility exterior services, including seasonal maintenance and snow/ice management.
  • Strong skills in troubleshooting, quality assurance inspections, and customer service resolution.
  • Ability to prepare and manage budgets, cost estimates, and purchase approvals.
  • Effective leadership in coaching, performance evaluation, and third-party provider management.
  • Competence in vehicle maintenance, safety checks, and documentation compliance.
  • Commitment to ethical conduct, integrity, and continuous improvement in facility operations.
  • 21 years of age or older.
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license.
  • No convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI, or reckless driving involving alcohol or drugs within the last three (3) years.
  • No more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years, if driving a commercial motor vehicle.
  • No serious traffic violations (as defined by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations) in the last three (3) years, if operating a commercial motor vehicle.
  • No preventable accidents (as defined by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations) in the last three (3) years, if operating a commercial motor vehicle.
  • Successful completion of a DOT physical and medical certification pre-hire.
  • As required by section 391.11(b)(2) of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, ability to read and speak in the English language.
  • 2 years’ experience in the landscaping/gardening industry

Nice To Haves

  • Able to successfully complete a DOT physical and secure medical certification during pre-hire contingency and be able to maintain a minimum of a 90 day Medical Examiner’s Certification (MEC) card.
  • Associate’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Maintenance, Construction Management, or related area.
  • Experience in third-party management.
  • Experience using intermediate level functionality of word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Proficient in speaking and understanding Spanish.
  • State/local licensing where required (for example, Florida, Texas, California, etc).

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain facility exterior services, including landscaping, snow and ice management, and seasonal maintenance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and company safety and environmental policies.
  • Manage equipment operation, inspections, and maintenance, including heavy machinery and vehicles.
  • Coordinate with third-party providers and lead quality assurance inspections to uphold service standards.
  • Control costs through price comparisons, warranty claims, and purchase approvals.
  • Communicate effectively with facility users to address service needs and resolve issues.
  • Prepare budgets, develop scopes of work, and implement facility upgrades for sustainability and efficiency.
