About The Position

Execute test plans, perform precision rework and assembly, troubleshoot test failures, record data, and maintain the lab environment. This role involves operating test equipment, performing soldering and component replacement under a microscope, diagnosing failures to the component level using schematics, and documenting test results to aid engineering in identifying design or process issues. The technician will also assist in maintaining lab equipment calibration and ensuring a clean and safe lab environment.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of electronics testing experience in an electronics R&D environment
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, assembly drawings, bill of materials (BOMs) and technical datasheets.
  • Understanding of product development lifecycles, reliability, and compliance testing.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Able to prioritize simultaneous tasks in an electronics lab/test environment
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in Electrical/Electronics, Computer, Mechanical Technologies, or related fields.
  • Certified in IPC-610, IPC-620, J-STD and other assembly and inspection standards.
  • Experience in building test cables, including crimping contacts, soldering connectors, and reading wiring diagrams.
  • Experience using ECAD viewers (Altium, Eagle, OrCAD, etc.) to locate components on a board layout.
  • Familiarity with thermal chambers, vibration tables, and burn-in procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Execute test plans: set up, configure, and operate benchtop test equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, multimeters, etc.) to verify PCBA performance.
  • Perform surface-mount (SMT) and through-hole soldering including component replacement and jumper wire installation under a microscope, as well as conformal coat & staking operations.
  • Diagnose test failures to the component level using schematics and layouts then determine and execute the necessary repairs.
  • Accurately document test data, rework, and failure modes to help Engineering identify design or process issues.
  • Assist in maintaining the lab environment to clean and safe standards, including equipment calibration.
