About The Position

The Technician 1, HVAC/Refrigeration is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of the heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems/equipment. This role ensures these systems meet the stringent requirements of pharmaceutical manufacturing and storage environments. Additionally, this role is responsible for conducting regular inspections and preventative maintenance on HVAC/R systems to ensure they are operating within the required specifications.

Requirements

High School Diploma/GED.
1+ years of experience in HVAC maintenance.
Completion of apprenticeship program or vocational training in HVAC.
Universal Refrigerant Recovery Certification (EPA 608 Certification).
Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and building automation systems.
Effective communication, both written and oral.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to lift and move heavy equipment.
Knowledge of Fume Hoods, Laminar flow hoods, and biosafety cabinets.
Must be able to support 24/7 manufacturing facility, including shift, on-call, and weekends.

Nice To Haves

Associate’s degree in mechanical, electrical, applied engineering, or another relevant field.
Prior experience in HVAC maintenance.

Responsibilities

Performs basic routine and preventative maintenance of the site’s heating, ventilation, air condition, and refrigeration systems and equipment with moderate supervision.
Reports complex HVAC issues to senior technicians or management.
Assists in overseeing the installation of equipment, as required.
Assists in providing recommendations to develop maintenance and repair plans for HVAC systems and equipment, including cold rooms.
Follows all safety protocols and guidelines.
Supports certification of HEPA filters.
Assists with work adhering to system air balancing activities.
Assists HVAC department technicians to qualify and maintain production ventilation and equipment.
Interacts with vendors and other departments.
Works with Building Management Systems (BMS) monitoring program and assists with reviewing specific data relating to HVAC systems.
Completes specialized training programs for HVAC systems.
Supports site operations and emergency work orders during off-hours, as needed.
Performs other duties, as assigned
