About The Position

The Technical Writing internship at Miller Electric is designed to give a student hands-on exposure to the tools and processes of this profession. This role involves creating and updating owner's manuals and other technical documentation, working with engineers and subject matter experts to understand products or procedures, and optimizing documents for print and electronic publication. The intern will also prepare markups for translation, participate in translation projects, and manage document data for upload and reuse to serve internal and external customers.

Requirements

• Student pursuing a bachelor's degree in Technical or Professional Writing, English, or a related field
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; be prepared to supply a writing sample
• Proficient in a Windows and Microsoft environment
• Able to work independently, prioritize and manage multiple tasks, and be proactive in suggesting process improvements

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with desktop publishing, structured authoring (XML), and technical illustration software
• Familiarity with welding and basic electricity
