Our Mission, Vision, and Values guide the way we do business. Leidos is seeking a Technical Writer to support our United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) customer. The Technical Writer will join our ServiceNow cross-functional implementation team and will be responsible for the creation of clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation. The ideal candidate will have experience working with software developers, business analysts, and trainers to develop high level technical documents, user manuals, business use cases, and mapping workflows to ensure stakeholders and end-users can easily understand and adopt solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 2-4 years of proven experience as a Technical Writer. Business Analyst, or in a similar role. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Strong ability to write and edit technical documents, user manuals, business use cases, and workflows.
  • Proficiency in documentation tools (MS Office, Visio, Knowledge Bases, Scout, or similar tools).
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of ServiceNow ITSM, ITOM, ITAM modules.
  • Experience in IT, SaaS, or enterprise software documentation.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow, Rally, Jira, or other workflow-driven platforms.
  • Knowledge of diagramming tools (Visio, Lucidchart, Snaggit).
  • ServiceNow CSA and/or CIS.

Responsibilities

  • Create detailed workflow diagrams and process documentation to support operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with product managers, developers, and business analysts to gather information and translate technical concepts into accessible content.
  • Assist Business Analysts with documenting business use cases to capture requirements, scenarios, and expected outcomes.
  • Develop and maintain user manuals, installation guides, and product documentation.
  • Ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance with documentation standards.
  • Review and edit existing documentation for clarity, usability, and completeness.
  • Support training and onboarding by working with the Trainer to produce high-quality reference materials.
