About The Position

The Technical Writer II provides the Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board (DNFSB) with technical documentation support. This role involves developing project management plans, defining requirements and design alternatives, implementing solutions, performing various tests (unit, system, acceptance), and planning/providing deployment and training resources. The technical writer must be able to conceptualize, format, structure, write, edit, and finalize technical manuals, orders, specifications, modification work orders, and test plans, procedures, and results, while demonstrating awareness of first, second, and third order effects of proposed solutions.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree with 3 yrs experience
Direct experience of applicable military standards, specifications, and test practices is required.
Demonstrate the ability to conceptualize, format, structure, write, edit, and finalize technical manuals, orders, specifications, modification work orders, and test plans, procedures, and results.
Secret Clearance

Responsibilities

Provide documentation commensurate with the level of effort required for the tasking.
Develop a Project Management Plan (PMP) for all approved Engineering Support tasks, including objectives, assumptions, schedule, milestones, roadblocks, and a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
Develop a Requirements Definition and Design Alternatives Document as components of the lifecycle approach.
Implement the accepted solution upon approval, seeking approval through change management processes.
Perform unit and system testing independently from the Government.
Develop and present an acceptance test plan, Test Procedures, and a Test Report.
Plan and provide resources to deploy and provide training on the engineered solution.
Develop section training and the associated training materials, as required.
