About The Position

Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) is a global leader in the aerospace industry, headquartered in Longueuil, Quebec. We manufacture next-generation engines that power the world’s largest fleet of business, general aviation, and regional aircraft and helicopters. For nearly 100 years, we have pioneered advancements in engine development, supporting cargo and equipment, transportation, wildfire suppression, and passenger travel. We are seeking a Technical Writer Summer Intern to help document, capture, and organize critical knowledge within our aerospace engineering organization. In this role, you will work closely with engineers, program staff, and subject matter experts to transform complex technical information into clear, structured, and accessible documentation. Your work may include process descriptions, technical notes, knowledge-base articles, and internal guides that support both day-to-day operations and long-term knowledge retention. This internship is ideal for a student with strong writing and organizational skills who is curious, detail-oriented, and interested in gaining hands-on experience in a safety-critical aerospace environment. This position would primarily attract students studying technical or professional writing, communications, or information management, as well as engineering students—particularly in aerospace, mechanical, electrical, or software disciplines—who have strong writing and organizational skills.

Requirements

  • Be eligible to work in Canada
  • Be enrolled in a Canadian university throughout your internship
  • Be able to work on-site in the province where you are hired if applicable
  • Pursuing a degree in technical or professional writing, communications, information management, or an engineering discipline such as aerospace, mechanical, electrical, software, or systems engineering, with a demonstrated interest in technical documentation and knowledge organization.

Nice To Haves

  • A proactive mindset, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with technical teams, the ability to synthesize complex technical information, and proficiency in English.
  • Although this position is part of a French-speaking work environment, it requires a working knowledge of English to read and understand specialized instructions, plans, drawings and technical terms that may emanate from international organizations, as well as to write and sometimes communicate in English with customers, suppliers or international colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with engineers, program leads, and other team members to gather information and capture knowledge through interviews and personal working notes
  • Review existing technical documents and reports to understand current practices, terminology, and content expectations
  • Draft, edit, and organize documentation for the departmental wiki, ensuring information is clear, accurate, and easy to navigate
  • Harmonize inputs from multiple contributors into a consistent voice, structure, and level of technical detail
  • Standardize report and document structures by drawing inspiration from existing high-quality reports and adapting them into reusable templates
  • Update and maintain documentation as processes evolve, incorporating feedback from stakeholders
  • Collaborate with the team to identify gaps in documentation and propose improvements to knowledge organization and accessibility
