About The Position

Under broad supervision, the Technical Training Specialist is responsible for providing expert technical and operational training to Factory Authorized Service (FAS) Technicians for the Garland product line. Provides training and support to the Tech Service team. Conducts technical training, determines training objectives, writes training programs including outline, text, handouts, and tests, and designs practical exercises. Instructs on safety, installation, programming, maintenance, and repair of software, machinery, and equipment. Administers written and practical exams and writes performance reports to evaluate trainees' performance. Assesses the effectiveness of training programs. Activities include planning, organizing, and developing training curricula, materials, and programs, analyzing training needs and developing responsive programs, evaluating third party training providers, and managing delivery of internal and externally provided training. This role requires practical knowledge of the Garland equipment obtained through education and work experience. Problems faced are complex. Reviews and develops technical documentation to ensure accuracy and effective messaging.

Requirements

  • Strong software applications including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to present technical information to a variety of audiences.
  • Must represent the company in a professional manner while traveling.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • In depth and advanced knowledge of assigned product line(s).
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Work effectively with all levels of management and staff and internal/external service technicians.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical training to the FAS field technicians on the product brand equipment for Service Techs, Service agencies, and internal Garland technical support personnel.
  • Develop training presentations for the assigned product lines ensuring that all manufactured equipment is addressed, as well as discontinued equipment, as required.
  • Coordinates the logistics of setting up field classes.
  • Provides technical and operational training and service support for assigned product lines.
  • Keep informed of current and future business needs to schedule training courses as needed for product roll outs.
  • Assist FAS network specialist in escalations during weeks not traveling for training.
  • Maintains accuracy of training materials for current production equipment and past production units, as needed.
  • Continues to expand mastery of the product line equipment, related service issues, and relevant tools.
  • Provides guidance to less experienced staff, as appropriate.
