About The Position

The Technical Trainer is responsible for delivering technical training programs, coaching repair center staff, especially technicians, and ensuring that technicians have the knowledge and skills to repair vehicles properly and safely. This role also collaborates with regional and market leadership to identify and address issues that can improve technical capabilities and skills within the markets.

Requirements

  • At least 5-7 years of industry experience.
  • Completed course of studies at a post-secondary school preferred; must have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Applicable industry certifications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • High level of independently planning and organizing work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to communicate, motivate, and cooperate with all levels of staff.
  • Knowledge of computer applications, including Internet, Google platform, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the company’s auto liability insurance policies.
  • Must be able to travel up to 30%-70% including some overnight travel.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 2 years of experience delivering training is preferred.
  • Attends required continuing professional education.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure consistent execution of WOW (Wow Operating Way) plan.
  • Deliver technical training and courses in the assigned area of responsibility.
  • Complete and retain all training documentation.
  • Follow all company policies regarding expense control and documentation, and properly maintain company assets, including trainer’s tools and the company vehicle.
  • Visit repair centers to assess technical capabilities, including individual technician’s knowledge, skills, and abilities, through observation, experience, and dialogue.
  • Provide coaching to technicians regarding the application of technical skills and building efficiencies in the repair process.
  • Work with technicians, repair center general managers, and market leaders to proactively recommend classes that can help technicians improve their knowledge and skills.
  • Monitor and coach for full compliance on our QC processes.
  • Assess the capabilities of repair centers in the assigned area of responsibility to deliver complete and safe repairs by maintaining the proper repair tools and equipment.
  • Provide documented feedback to location, market, and regional leadership when tools and equipment need to be upgraded or repaired.
  • Assist in the development of technician trainees by working at a fixed training center and/or working with technician trainees.
  • Develop and improve technical training clinics to teach repair skills.
  • Work with other technical trainers to ensure a consistent message is delivered across the network of repair centers.
  • Keep current on the latest advancements in repair processes and techniques.
  • Perform program assessments, training, and coaching.
