About The Position

Hamilton County Schools is seeking an outstanding leader for the role of Technical Teacher/Director, specifically focusing on A/V technology at the Chattanooga Center for Creative Arts (CCA). This position involves teaching CTE classes in Audio Visual (Lighting, sound, etc.) and managing the auditorium and all performances. CCA is a fine arts magnet school for grades six through twelve, emphasizing both academic and artistic excellence. The ideal candidate will embrace the arts theme, possess professional goals, and understand the impact of high expectations on student potential. The role is critical to the success of the school's performing arts program, preparing students for college majors and careers in technical theater.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or above, Associate’s or Bachelor’s in related industry preferred.
  • Five years of full time related work experience out of the last ten years.
  • Examples of Qualifying areas/Occupations: electronic engineering, electronic recording, electronic concept design and creation, audio/video technology, sound board networking, sound board operations, audio/video/DVD networking, camera operators, film and video editors, broadcaster with production experience, studio production manager
  • Must hold an Occupational Teaching license with endorsement: (710) Broadcasting; Previous endorsements 576 & 597
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills to deal effectively with students, educators, parents, and community members.
  • Demonstrate excellent planning, organizational, problem-solving, decision-making, and time management skills.

  • Strong in: Stage Management, Lighting design, Sound, Set Construction, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver and assess effective instruction that is tightly aligned with State standards.
  • Designs lessons based on best practices with clear learning targets and measurable goals aligned with State standards and/or unit outcomes. Frequently plans collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Conveys high expectations while using multiple effective strategies, materials, and classroom practices that involve and motivate students while differentiating instruction to meet students’ needs.
  • Uses colleagues and own self-reflection on instructional practice to continually improve instruction.
  • Fosters a well-structured and engaging learning environment by utilizing effective classroom procedures and routines while showing caring, respect, and fairness for all students.
  • Consistently develops strong relationships with students’ families while diligently informing parents of expectations, positive news, and/or concerns about their children.
  • Provides opportunities for parents to be involved in their children’s learning.
  • Actively seeks out opportunities to collaborate with colleagues and other stakeholders in order to improve teaching & learning.
  • Reflects on own instruction and leadership while contributing ideas, expertise, and time to the mission and goals of the school.

  • Salary is based on a combination of relevant education and experience.
  • This position is also budgeted for an additional 15 work days for the 2026-2027 school year.
  • This position may be eligible for an increase in total compensation.
  • The Differentiated Compensation Plan applies to designated schools and hard-to-staff positions.
