About The Position

This role is for a versatile, customer-focused Technical Systems Engineer to support both a client’s Colorado Springs headquarters and customer deployments across the United States. This is not a traditional IT support position. The engineer will be comfortable troubleshooting network issues, deploying hardware in the field, configuring operating systems, supporting 5G technologies, training customers, and serving as a trusted technical advisor during mission-critical installations. The ideal candidate enjoys solving complex technical challenges, working directly with customers, and learning emerging technologies.

Requirements

  • An Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in technical support, network administration, systems administration, field engineering, or a similar technical role.
  • Demonstrated experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting computer hardware and software systems.
  • Demonstrated experience administering and supporting wireless communications technologies, including LTE and/or 5G networks.
  • Familiarity with edge computing, virtualization, or cloud technologies.
  • Experience supporting mission-critical infrastructure or industrial systems.
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals.
  • Experience with Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel up to 50% nationwide.
  • US Citizenship Required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience supporting government installations preferred.
  • Industry certifications such as: CompTIA Network+ Security+ Cisco CCNA Linux+ Microsoft certifications
  • Experience with structured cabling, equipment racks, and field installations.
  • Familiarity with ticketing systems and IT service management practices.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a key technical resource supporting internal operations, customer deployments, and ongoing system performance.
  • Install, configure, and commission hardware and software systems at customer sites.
  • Deploy and support networking infrastructure, servers, edge computing devices, and wireless communications equipment.
  • Configure operating systems, applications, and network services.
  • Assist customers with new technology rollouts and system upgrades.
  • Verify system functionality and performance during deployment and acceptance testing.
  • Monitor and maintain networked systems and infrastructure.
  • Diagnose and resolve network, hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
  • Support technologies including TCP/IP networking, wireless systems, VPNs, switching, routing, and 5G-related infrastructure.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for technical support inquiries.
  • Escalate complex issues appropriately while maintaining ownership until resolution.
  • Provide world-class technical support via phone, email, remote access, and in-person engagement.
  • Deliver clear technical guidance to both technical and non-technical users.
  • Follow up proactively to ensure successful resolution of customer issues.
  • Build trusted relationships with customers through professionalism, accountability, and responsiveness.
  • Conduct customer training and knowledge-transfer sessions.
  • Maintain accurate service records, issue logs, installation reports, and technical documentation.
  • Create and update knowledge base articles and operational procedures.
  • Track issues through resolution while adhering to service-level expectations.
  • Recommend process improvements and contribute to operational excellence initiatives.
  • Learn and support new technologies as SEMPRE's solutions continue to evolve.
  • Participate in testing, evaluation, and deployment of next-generation communications and networking capabilities.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, and operations teams to solve complex technical challenges.
