About The Position

The Technical Support Specialist is responsible for the set-up, programming, maintaining, troubleshooting, operating, calibrating, and repairing of Quality Assurance equipment. This role involves direct contact with manufacturers via phone, chat, email, or in-person, as well as training users on equipment operation and acquiring necessary knowledge to support the equipment. The position requires adherence to safety protocols, documentation standards, and company policies, while also collaborating with EHS and Quality departments to ensure regulatory and certification compliance.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 1-2 year of experience with metrology, or equivalent education and experience.
  • At least 1-2 year of experience or training in Coordinate Measurement Machine programming, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, and reach overhead.
  • Frequent lifting of up to 10 lbs.
  • Fine motor skills and close vision required for data entry and machine operation.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems, testing equipment, and quality documentation standards.
  • Knowledge of production processes, material properties, and basic chemistry relevant to XRF analysis.
  • CMM programming knowledge.
  • CMM operation knowledge.
  • Knowledge of English language structure, grammar, and technical terminology.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with team members and supervisors.
  • Ability to follow technical instructions and record testing results accurately.
  • Ability to monitor machine performance and troubleshoot operational issues.
  • Ability to use time effectively to manage workload and shift priorities as needed.
  • Ability to maintain arm-hand steadiness while handling precision instruments.
  • Ability to identify and respond to inconsistencies in test results or equipment behavior.
  • Ability to grasp and manipulate small objects with manual dexterity.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and calibrate equipment, including adjusting parameters for varying sample types and performing routine quality checks.
  • Conduct data acquisition and analysis by running samples, collecting and recording data, and ensuring accuracy and integrity of results.
  • Interpret analytical results and apply problem-solving skills to make calculated adjustments and resolve technical challenges.
  • Implement and support quality control procedures, including routine calibrations, performance monitoring, and quality inspections to ensure repeatability and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment issues, including software errors, hardware malfunctions, and calibration drift; coordinate with manufacturer support services as needed.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation, including sample data, analysis parameters, results, calibration and maintenance records, and quality control logs.
  • Develop and maintain training materials such as work instructions, step-by-step guides, and reference documentation; train users as required.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, including proper handling of radiation, chemicals, and hazardous materials.
  • Provide customer support by maintaining professionalism, patience, and a positive attitude when assisting users or addressing concerns.

  • Identify hazards in the workplace and report them to management and/or the safety coordinator.
  • Collaborate with the EHS department to meet local, state, and federal regulatory requirements, including OSHA, NFPA, DNR, EPA, and Amphenol sustainability practices.
  • Work with the Quality department to ensure compliance with AS9100 certification standards.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
