Mission Technologies, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, is looking for a qualified individual to fill the role of a Navy Continuous Training Environment (NCTE) Technical Support Specialist for their Global Security Group. This person provides technical support of Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVCt) training events and the Navy Training Baseline (NTB) suite of distributed simulation applications and utilities. This position is located on Naval Station Norfolk and requires periodic local travel to other customer sites in Virginia Beach and Norfolk, Virginia. Additionally, position requires flexibility as duties and responsibilities may be adjusted to meet business, customer, and contractual requirements.

Requirements

  • 2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field or, 0 years experience with Masters in related field or, High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years relevant experience.
  • Candidate must have a current CompTIA Security + certification.
  • Candidate must currently hold and be able to maintain a US Secret clearance.
  • Candidate must have strong practical knowledge and hands-on experience with Red Hat Linux operating system.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of distributed simulation protocols such as High Level Architecture (HLA) and Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS).
  • Familiarity with networking concepts, architectures, and protocols such as TCP/IP and UDP.
  • Knowledge of Navy C4I tactical systems such as Link 16 and GCCS.
  • Experience working with Navy systems and/or commands.

Responsibilities

  • Installs new NTB software releases, upgrades, and patches.
  • Provides engineering related support for NTB setup and configuration during the planning and execution of training events.
  • Uses systems management software to monitor key simulation components and interfaces to respond to error conditions and ensure continued service.
  • Troubleshoots problems and coordinates with other teams when problems occur.
  • Develops and maintains technical architecture, configuration, and status documentation.
