About The Position

TEKsystems is partnering with a family-owned Oregon manufacturer to hire a Technical Support Specialist. This position is an excellent fit for someone with strong technical aptitude who enjoys troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems, working directly with customers, and solving real-world equipment issues. We're especially interested in candidates with electronics, engineering, STEM, manufacturing, laboratory equipment, or technical project experience. Whether you've gained your experience through work, school, personal projects, or hands-on hobbies, this role offers an opportunity to apply your technical skills in a customer-facing environment while continuing to develop professionally. You'll work closely with customers, service teams, and engineering personnel to diagnose equipment issues, interpret wiring diagrams, identify replacement parts, and help drive issues to resolution.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical mindset
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to remain patient and professional when supporting frustrated customers
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills
  • Associate degree, technical training, or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Valid driver's license

  • STEM-related education in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Electronics, Electrical Technology, Mechanical Technology, or similar fields
  • Technical support experience

  • Hands-on projects involving electronics, Raspberry Pi, Arduino, robotics, or similar technical hobbies

Responsibilities

  • Handle approximately 7-15 customer calls and 7-15 email requests per day
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues with customers over the phone and through email
  • Interpret wiring diagrams and technical documentation to identify problems
  • Guide customers through diagnostic and repair processes
  • Coordinate replacement part orders and warranty requests
  • Document service cases and maintain accurate records within company systems
  • Escalate complex issues to engineering or management when necessary
  • Coordinate service support and follow up to ensure issues are fully resolved
  • Partner with engineering and quality teams to provide product feedback and support continuous improvement
