About The Position

The Technical Support Rep role provides technical support for the Propulsion Shop & Test Facility. Assist in development of sub-system/component testing to satisfy overall systems requirements for our launch vehicles. Provide direct support to engineering to ensure schedules are met and operations are streamlined to improve efficiency.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience in mechanical and/or electrical assembly, metal fabrication in an aerospace or similar industry.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
  • Self-motivated, team player willing to adapt within a dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to work overtime, to include extended shifts and weekends.
  • Experience in the use and operation of precision measuring devices.
  • Ability to routinely lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to follow test procedures.
  • Ability to understand and adhere to shop practices and safety guidelines.
  • Knowledge of industry design and documentation standards.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Welding experience
  • Machining experience manual and/or CNC
  • Experience with instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
  • Experience in fabrication, assembly and test of complex mechanical and structural assemblies.
  • Experience in the use of machine shop equipment (mill, lathe, band saw, grinder, etc).
  • Experience in working from drawings, models and other engineering documentation.
  • Ability to hand layout, drill and rivet to drawing specifications.
  • Position requires a general knowledge of aerospace design as well as an understanding of dynamics and structural analysis concepts.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project).
  • Applicant must be a team player with the ability to adapt within a dynamic work environment, be goal-oriented with an acute attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of duties in the electronic, mechanical, and/or electromechanical fields.
  • Construct, troubleshoot, calibrate, adjust, test, diagnose, and maintain equipment, components, devices, or systems.
  • Works from schematics, engineering drawings and written or verbal instructions.
  • Operates related equipment; conducts tests and reports data in prescribed format.
  • Performs calibration and alignment checks; makes adjustments, modifications, and replacements as directed; prepares prescribed compounds and solutions.
  • Provides basic data including but not limited to preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to assist engineering during testing activities.
  • Investigates pertinent requirements to assist engineering with design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, repeatability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost.
  • Recommends revisions and/or improvements in design layout to responsible engineers or designers.
