About The Position

Qwaltec is seeking a Technical Supervisor/Lead to join our team at the NASA Wallops Flight Facility in Wallops Island, VA. This position is responsible for managing Qwaltec’s Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) employees, on our SENSE subcontract, responsible for operating and maintaining the NASA Near Earth Network (NEN) ground station antennas located at Wallops Flight Facility as well as remote stations located at McMurdo Ground Station (Antarctica), White Sands (New Mexico), and Alaska Satellite Facility (Fairbanks, Alaska).

Requirements

  • Candidate must have at least 5 years of satellite or radio frequency equipment operation and maintenance experience.
  • Must be proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Email, MS Teams, and other computer software tools as needed.
  • Must have strong customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage work schedules, timesheets, travel arrangements, PTO approvals, and expense reports for CBA personnel.
  • Provide 24/7 station and personnel updates to the Prime Contractor as necessary in situations such as station outages, equipment issues, or other events requiring immediate station personnel response.
  • Supervise the daily maintenance and operations of the satellite ground station.
  • Manage the planning and scheduling of a resource or resources for personnel training.
  • Review/issue weekly reports, discrepancy reports, root cause/corrective actions, operational work instructions, and local operating procedures.
  • Generate mission readiness reviews, preventive and corrective maintenance work orders, daily/weekly/monthly status reports, as well as provides to orbital and non-orbital customers station status updates.
  • Perform procedure development beginning with review for clarity and evolving to technical critique and writing.
  • Participate in planning and scheduling processes for meeting coordination with internal and external customers.
  • Create, review, and disseminate new or modified documentation to streamline Near Earth Network (NEN) processes while maintaining compliance with NASA guidance.
  • Communicate with the NASA Health and Safety Manager and coordinate reviews and training updates for staff safety qualifications and certifications.
  • Coordinate with customers to provide exceptional and expedient service when customer’s needs change or spacecraft emergencies arise.
  • Create, update, and disseminate new or existing local operating procedures and work instructions for all equipment, operations and contingencies.
