The Technical Staff role involves developing dimensional acceptance methodologies from design drawings or CAD models using Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), high-precision gages, and Numerical Control (NC) machines. This position will provide technical input for CMM program development, deliver dimensional certification packages, and assist in designing special tooling and fixtures. The role also includes coordinating with inspection areas and the Oak Ridge Metrology Center for calibration, maintaining personal inventory of assets, developing and maintaining process controls, managing configuration control of certification packages, and overseeing product retest requirements. Additionally, the Technical Staff will prepare cost estimates for customers, evaluate precision equipment performance, and partner with customers to develop and validate acceptable methodologies. Daily interaction with various organizational layers, including plant-level and technical program managers, development teams, engineering, operating area inspectors, and NNSA auditors, is expected. The role also involves coordinating with personnel across multiple organizations for project implementation, providing technical support for performance improvements and new equipment installations, and troubleshooting calibration equipment, primarily CMMs. Responsibilities include assisting with machine calibration and certification, developing technical specifications, obtaining vendor quotes, and attending off-site acceptance testing for CMM procurements. Strict security requirements for computer systems associated with dimensional inspection equipment must be maintained. Comprehensive training will be provided.
