About The Position

Join Dell Technologies’ Engineering Technologist Team in Round Rock, Texas, or Santa Clara, California, as a Technical Staff-Network Architect. The role focuses on developing next-generation, large-scale AI infrastructure, including accelerated compute, AI fabrics, and AI-optimized storage. You will work with high-profile AI customers to optimize solutions for their applications and tune systems for performance, while driving datacenter-level innovation in liquid cooling and power density. The position leads network and fabric design based on customer requirements and infrastructure needs, including InfiniBand, Ethernet, Accelerated Fabric Link (AFL), and other scalable fabric topologies. It defines network topologies optimized for AI training and inference and develops end-to-end AI network architecture spanning GPU-to-GPU and server-to-storage connectivity, in-rack cabling, and datacenter optical design. The role also involves collaborating with external partners and developing networking software, solutions, and architecture that integrate with AI frameworks and applications. Travel of 20%–30% is required.

Requirements

  • Expert understanding of networking technologies, including switches, network-interface cards (NICs), Data Processing Units (DPUs), and AI fabrics.
  • Experience integrating AI frameworks, such as TensorFlow and PyTorch, and Kubernetes for machine-learning workloads.
  • Experience with datacenter network design and optical distribution.
  • Knowledge of networking protocol industry standards.
  • Customer and partner project/program leadership experience.
  • Ability to understand and assess customer requirements, develop technical solutions based on customers’ geographical areas, negotiate conflicting interests, and prioritize deliverables to achieve outcomes for stakeholders.
  • Ability to travel 20%–30%.

Nice To Haves

  • 15+ years of industry experience with a bachelor’s degree or equivalent skill.
  • Relationships with key suppliers of networking products.
