The Technical Specialist will perform analysis from requests driven by Production and Quality Teams, determine when analysis is needed from historical data, and work with cross-functional teams to drive resolution for high importance items. They will perform technical causal analysis using specialized equipment to resolve complex product issues identified in Production and from Customer remarks, and report findings to Senior Leadership. The role also involves performing routine functional analysis and feature validation to ensure Conformity of Production/Product, aiding in the development of test cases and methods, and identifying high risk cases to lead resolution activities. Additionally, the specialist will support corrective action development, monitor their effectiveness, and create standard operations for equipment in the Vehicle Analysis Center, while also performing continuous improvement activities. The role includes supporting initial builds, vehicle launches, and production ramp-ups, as well as leading and providing training to general assembly staff on quality standards and techniques, including VDA requirements, and assisting in the development of training materials.

Requirements

  • Minimum of high school diploma, GED or equivalent required.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in automotive production and quality control concepts or a related field, including hands-on experience performing technical analysis.
  • Hands-on experience performing technical analysis with hybrid drive systems preferred.
  • Greenfield or Brownfield Automotive facility launch experience preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of automotive processes, products, and materials, including familiarity with assembly tools, equipment, and best practices in the general assembly processes.
  • Experience with VDA standards and their application in the automotive industry.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • In depth understanding of DMAIC methodologies and the ability to utilize them.
  • Excellent writing skills for developing clear and comprehensive quality standards and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis from requests driven by the Production and Quality Teams as well as determine when analysis is needed from results in historical data.

  • Perform feature validation at set frequencies to ensure Conformity of Production/Product.
  • Aid in development of test cases and methods for analysis.
  • Identify high risk cases from analysis and lead resolution activities.
  • Support corrective action development.
  • Monitor corrective action implementation for effectiveness and react to NOK trends.
  • Create standard operations for utilizing equipment in the Vehicle Analysis Center.
  • Perform continuous improvement activities to improve standards.
  • Support initial builds, vehicle launches, and production ramp-ups to ensure quality targets are met in pre-series and series operation.
  • Lead and provide training and guidance to general assembly staff on quality standards and techniques, including VDA requirements.
  • Assist in the development of training materials and programs related to general assembly Quality.
