About The Position

This role involves performing safety analysis for flight control systems, electrical systems, and fire protection systems on company aircraft. The Technical Specialist III will work on engineering projects with critical problems that require major technological advances and extensive development. The position is responsible for entire engineering projects of major complexity within an established scope, making authoritative technical decisions and recommendations that significantly impact engineering activities. The role requires applying advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts based on broad expertise and unique specialized knowledge, leading the development of innovative principles and ideas. The individual will act independently to optimize technical product, cost, and schedule requirements, working under consultative direction with independent judgment. Responsibilities include developing standards and guides for diverse engineering activities and planning investigations of broad, important areas where engineering precedents are lacking but are critical to the program. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related engineering field required.
  • Thirteen years of experience in system safety engineering required.
  • Experience with the certification of aircraft systems and industry certification requirements.
  • Experience with flight control systems, electrical systems, and fire protection systems.
  • Experience with safety-critical system development and verification for airborne systems.
  • Experience with the full system safety development lifecycle for airborne systems.
  • Experience processing safety-critical systems through the complete lifecycle (safety requirements elicitation, analysis and development, safety architecture, and design and safety requirements verification).
  • Experience with 14 CFR Part 25.
  • Experience developing tools and processes to ensure compliance with ARP4754 and ARP4761.
  • Experience with reliability modeling and prediction.
  • Experience with Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA) processes and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
  • Experience with statistical analysis.
  • Experience with Six Sigma tools.
  • In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree and thirteen years of experience, Employer will accept a Master’s degree and eleven years of experience, or a Ph.D. and nine years of experience in applicable fields.
  • Must have legal authority to work in the U.S.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
