About The Position

Body Engineering is looking for a highly motivated individual to work within the Craftsmanship team supporting and driving Design Quality activities related to appearance approval which is part of the PPAP process. The role involves having a good understanding of the Lucid Air for all customer facing parts for the Interior and Exterior. The individual will review molded parts pre-grain to ensure that the quality of the mold is acceptable to KO grain, and provide visual documentation of issues related to mold prior to grain approval, working with the supplier/engineer to address issues found. This role also includes reviewing and validating the Pre Grain Approval Sheet from the supplier and signing off the document to start graining of the tool. The specialist will coordinate with SQE for shipment of pre-grain and AAR parts to Lucid for review, and assess all AAR parts (wrapped, painted, chrome, MIC) to ensure they meet visual targets and are dimensionally stable to support sign off for PPAP. Maintaining a record of all parts submitted for grain approval and AAR, and providing visual documentation of issues related to AAR parts, working with the supplier/engineer to address them, are key responsibilities. Support on site at suppliers to help root cause issues as needed, working with SQE and supplier quality teams, and working with the Craftsmanship Lab Technician to arrange for cataloged storage of AAR parts for future reference are also part of the role. Additionally, the specialist will support the CMF team to validate color matching of masters and parts. The immediate need will be to complete AAR on Lucid Air, but will require ongoing support on future programs. The role may also involve managing and/or mentoring more junior colleagues.

Requirements

  • Generally, required 8+ years of related experience
  • Automotive experience
  • Strong knowledge of quality systems and hands-on quality engineering experience
  • Strong Experience in Visual quality and color evaluation (candidate needs to have the ability to see colors and the color variations)
  • Experience working effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve results
  • Experience with report writing and time management
  • Experience with MS Office
  • Must be self-motivated
  • Understanding of roles and needs of different client groups
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Design Engineering or a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing a team a plus
  • Strong technical understanding of automotive processes related to job
  • Proven numeracy and literacy skills, good logical reasoning, and ability to translate business plan into individual objectives for staff
