About The Position

Sequoia Ecological Consulting is hiring a staff-first Technical Services Manager to lead, support, and grow technical staff working to protect California’s sensitive habitats, threatened species, and wild landscapes. The role is primarily focused on people leadership: supervising and advocating for technical staff from the Project Manager tier through field biologists, and supporting their career development. The manager will take on day-to-day people management currently handled by the Principals and help foster a supportive, trusting team culture. The position combines people leadership with environmental consulting and technical credibility to guide staffing and project-delivery decisions. It supports project and program management and includes a small billable component. The manager will oversee staff supervision, performance management, career development, hiring, workload balance, and support for project delivery, while reinforcing technical standards and quality expectations established by the Director of Technical Services and Principals. The position reports to the Director of Technical Services. The role is remote in California, with the Bay Area preferred, and requires quarterly in-office time in Walnut Creek. The anticipated start date is early 2027. Compensation is $140,000–$160,000 annually, full-time and exempt, with comprehensive benefits. Applicants should submit a resume and written answers to four application questions as a single document; no cover letter is needed.
