About The Position

The Technical Service Engineer will be the technical lead working directly with customers in the processing of GEON’s products with concentration in molding or extrusion. The Technical Service Engineer’s primary responsibilities are process optimization and troubleshooting of GEON products at customer facilities, resolution of customer complaints, and acting as the technical interface between the customer, GEON’s manufacturing teams, and the R&D technical team. The Technical Service Engineer will leverage rich, hands-on experience in molding or extrusion to grow current business and build trusting relationships with customers in order to be the supplier of choice in future applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required, a focus on Plastics or Chemical Engineering is preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years of Process Improvement/Engineering experience in the Plastics industry with Extrusion and/or Injection Molding experience.
  • Functional familiarity with processing a diverse polymer set (i.e. Rigid PVC, Flexible PVC, ABS, PP, and other engineered resins).
  • Proficiency in process optimization, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement methodologies, with Six Sigma, Kaizen, and/or LEAN certifications/belts preferred.
  • Extensive experience in plastic processing, including injection molding, extrusion, or blow molding.
  • Strong knowledge of plastic materials, processing parameters, and equipment.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems and standards, such as ISO 9001 and IATF 16949.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and present safety, quality, and performance to customers and GEON leadership.
  • Plan and execute trial runs.
  • Determine and report on financial impact of projects.
  • Document and prepare product specifications for manufacturing GEON products.
  • Utilize proven project management methods to plan, lead, and assist with a full range of project sizes and scopes.
  • Identify and implement improvements and/or best practices to reduce variation in our products and improve processing at customers (driving more value with customers).
  • Collaborate with the Process Engineering GEON community on best practices and effective process improvements.
  • Mine and analyze data to identify potential opportunities for manufacturing / process improvements.
  • Perform effective root cause analyses.
  • Coordinate with R&D partners to ensure quality and testing conditions for established GEON products.
  • Monitor and revise processes to help generate cost savings and improve quality and efficiency of products and processes.
  • Collaborate with Client-Facing / commercial team to enhance entanglement of GEON with customers at technological / manufacturing level.
  • Participate in Customer visits and coordinate with assigned Account Manager to provide technical support and showcase GEON’s manufacturing and process capabilities.
  • Evaluate, assess, and benchmark customers manufacturing processes and make improvement recommendations that translate into additional financial benefits to our customers.
  • Offer working knowledge to assist with design for manufacturability, tool design support, FEA, Moldflow, and process simulation.
